Zusammenfassung

The ideal protagonist of a courtly romance is fighting and often hurt in fights, but normally does not suffer from injuries. This changes in prose narratives of the early 13th century. In the Prose Lancelot as well as in the Haut Livre du Saint Graal the protagonists (Lancelot and Perlesvaus) do suffer for weeks after a fight and are marked by scars.
