Abstract
As delineated in the chapter before, approaches to gender as a feature of individuals – even those concerned with the influence of social situations on behaviors and beliefs associated with the biological sex category – disregard the impact, which this thinking and behaving has, in turn, on the very production of gender. On the other hand, theories focusing on the production of gender through interactional doing mostly disregard the scope of influence that individuals have in that doing. The intention of this chapter, therefore, is to integrate these two approaches as well as to explore possible ways of un-doing gender.
