Zusammenfassung

Implements civilised man and made him cease to be a nomad. Implements intellectualized him and made him mobile, even allowing him to make to the skies like a bird. What we are we have not become solely because we possess a thumb which can move in opposition to the other four fingers, but because of what these hands of ours have created to extend their original powers. In all our imple-ments, there is a hint of this original thumb; they are all designed for use by the human body or to work in association with it.
