Firmen und Management betonen die Relevanz von Organisationskultur als zentralen Treiber der Innovationsleistung von Organisationen (vgl. 3M Company 2002; Jaruzelski/Loehr/Holman 2011). „Nurturing a culture that allows for innovation is the key,” bemerkt beispielsweise Susan Wojcicki (2011), die frühere Marketingmanagerin von Google und aktuelle Chefin von Youtube. Die zentrale Rolle, die Organisationskultur von der Praxis bei der Innovationsleistung von Organisationen zugeschrieben wird, wird von empirischer Forschung bestätigt (vgl. z.B. Stock/Six/Zacharias 2013; Tellis/Prabhu/Chandy 2009).
