Zusammenfassung

Südlich der Grenze – das gibt es bei John Ford nur in Rio Grande (1950). Dort ist das südliche Land allerdings bloß Operationsgebiet für den Angriff der 7. Kavallerie auf eine ‚Apachenbande‘, die weiße Kinder entführt hat, die durch den Angriff befreit werden sollen. Obwohl die Grenze am Rio Grande mehrfach problematisiert wird, ist doch nahegelegt, dass die geographische Grenze unwichtig wird, sobald gesellschaftliche Interessen der USA berührt sind.

Dies ist der Titel eines Romans von Haruki Murakami (1999).
