Zusammenfassung
Spitzenleistungen können von Mitarbeitern nur erbracht werden, wenn diese entsprechend motiviert sind. Grundlage jeder Motivation ist das Motiv. Eine Leistungserbringung kann dabei entweder aus intrinsischen (d. h. wegen des Interesses an der Tätigkeit selbst) oder extrinsischen (d. h. nur wegen der mit der Tätigkeit verbundenen äußeren Belohnung) Gründen erfolgen. Geld spielt bei der Motivation eine eher untergeordnete Rolle. Viel wichtiger ist in diesem Kontext der soziale Vergleich. Wegen des Korrumpierungseffektes sollten monetäre Anreize, wie beispielsweise individuelle Leistungsprämien, kritisch geprüft und stärker auf Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten der intrinsischen Motivation geachtet werden. Diese wird dabei maßgeblich von drei Faktoren beeinflusst: Der erlebten Sinnhaftigkeit, dem wahrgenommenen Grad an Autonomie und der vom Mitarbeiter für die Aufgabe empfundenen Kompetenz.
Ausgangspunkt jeder Motivation ist das Ziel, zu dem sie führen soll. Wer nicht genau weiß, wofür er sich einsetzen, vielleicht auch quälen soll, wird niemals motiviert an eine Aufgabe herangehen
