Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag entwickelt eine eigenständige Konzeption des Felds der Politik, die die besondere Rolle von Konstellationen (Netzwerken) politischer Akteure berücksichtigt. Diese Konzeption kombiniert Bausteine aus der Feldtheorie von Pierre Bourdieus, aus Niklas Luhmanns Systemtheorie und dem Diskursbegriff nach Michel Foucault, sowie aus neueren Feldtheorien und aus der relationalen Soziologie um Harrison White. Das Feld der Politik bildet dabei einen sinnhaft abgegrenzten Kommunikationszusammenhang, in dem Akteure miteinander um kollektiv bindende Entscheidungen, um Einfluss auf diese und um Unterstützung aus dem Publikum ringen. Dabei grenzen sich die Akteure zugleich voneinander ab, um ihre Eigenständigkeit zu betonen, und verbünden sich miteinander, um Mehrheiten zu mobilisieren oder anderweitig politische Entscheidungen zu beeinflussen. In diesem Wechselspiel von Nähe und Distanz entstehen politische Konstellationen („inszenierte Netzwerke“), die spezifischen Mechanismen folgen: Unterstützung und Angriffe zwischen politischen Akteuren sind tendenziell reziprok und transitiv, was die Bildung zweier verfeindeter Lager fördert („natürlicher Dualismus“ nach Duverger). Preferential Attachment finden wir etwa in den Big Man-Strukturen im subsaharischen Afrika. Daneben können der Ausschluss nach sozialen Kategorien (z.B. Ethnien) und institutionalisierte Rollen (Regierung / Opposition) die Interaktion und Relationen im Feld der Politik prägen. Abschließend wird die Untersuchung von politischen Konstellationen in der Kommunikation am Beispiel einer Fernsehdebatte von SpitzenkandidatInnen illustriert. Dabei zeigten sich im Muster von „relationalen Ereignissen“ (Unterbrechungen mit Unterstützung oder Kritik, Handlungserzählungen) tendenziell die Mechanismen der Reziprozität und der Transitivität, aber auch der Orientierung an institutionalisierten Rollen.
