Der biographische Ansatz in Frankreich – Historischer Verlauf und aktuelle Entwicklungen

Zusammenfassung

Der biographische Ansatz wurde in Frankreich Ende der 1970er Jahre inmitten eines soziologischen Kontextes eingeführt, der stark durch den Positivismus und den Strukturalismus geprägt war. In verschiedenen Forschungsbereichen der Soziologie findet er seit ca. 20 Jahren eine breite Anerkennung. Verschiedene Entwicklungen erscheinen dabei von besonderem Interesse: Gekreuzte Interviews, eine Interaktion mit dem Feld durch den Bereich der Action Research oder die Kombination von biographischen Interviews mit anderen Erhebungsmethoden wie ethnographischen Beobachtungen, halb strukturierten Interviews oder statistischen Daten.

Alle im Folgenden in Klammern gesetzten Titel und die Mehrheit der Zitate wurden von der Autorin dieses Beitrags übersetzt. Unterschiedliche Fassungen dieses Textes sind 2009 in der Zeitschrift BIOS, 2010 im Rundbrief 58 der Sektion „Biographieforschung“ der DGS und im Juli 2013 im Rundbrief des Research Committee 38 „Biography and Society“ der ISA erschienen.
