Zusammenfassung
IT, verstanden als Konglomerat der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien, ist nicht nur Treiber der Digitalisierung der Arbeit. Tatsächlich werden geografisch verteilte Teams, wie sie etwa durch Unternehmenszusammenschlüsse oder -übernahmen entstehen, durch IT überhaupt in die Lage versetzt, zusammenzuarbeiten: IT wird zum „Enabler“ einer globalen, digitalen Arbeit – auch und gerade in der Softwareentwicklung. Agile Arbeitsmethoden wie Scrum oder Kanban bezwecken im Allgemeinen eine effektive wie effiziente Zusammenarbeit in Entwicklungsteams. Geografisch verteilte Teams sehen sich jedoch ganz speziellen Herausforderungen gegenüber. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Thematik und zeigt schließlich an einem konkreten Fallbeispiel aus der Softwareindustrie auf, wie diese Herausforderungen auch mithilfe von IT gemeistert werden können. Dies führt zu Handlungsempfehlungen für eine „Softwareentwicklung 4.1“.
