Zusammenfassung

Im Mittelpunkt dieses praxisorientierten Beitrags steht ein erster Entwurf zur Abbildung des Blockchain-Konzepts auf die Musikwirtschaft, dem Statements aus einer Interviewstudie mit Expert_innen aus Musik, Technologie und Forschung zugrunde liegen. Aufbauend auf diesem Entwurf wird eine Folgenabschätzung für Verwertungsgesellschaften vorgenommen. Blockchain-Architekturen können die Attraktivität und Position von Verwertungsgesellschaften stärken. Eine erfolgreiche Übernahme dieser Technologien setzt jedoch eine detaillierte Evaluation von Blockchain, eine Anforderungsanalyse der Musikwirtschaft und vor allem eine Lösung des Metadaten-Problems voraus. Eine Integration des neuen Konzepts verlangt in erhöhtem Maß Koordination und Kommunikation in Form kollaborativer Ansätze, die auf Prinzipien des Transition-Management aufbauen. Eine konsequente Umsetzung mit Unterstützung der Verwertungsgesellschaften kann zur Entfaltung eines erweiterten Wertschöpfungsraums in der Musikwirtschaft führen.

Abstract

This article focuses on a first draft that maps the blockchain concept onto the music industry. Its hands-on perspective is supported by an interview study conducted with experts from the music industry, from technology, as well as from research. Based on this draft, it explores the impact for public rights organisations. blockchain architectures may strengthen the position of public rights organisations and increase their attractiveness for members. To succeed in adapting this technology, an in-depth evaluation of blockchain is necessary. Moreover, a requirements analysis of the music industry is in demand, and the metadata problem has to be fixed. The integration of this new concept strongly builds on a collaborative approach comprising coordination and communication. Key to this approach are the principles of transition management. If public rights organisations support a straight implementation this may result in an expanding evolvement of content value generation in the music industry.
