Zusammenfassung
Austria is a relatively small country with an overall population of 8,585,000 which contains 13.3% foreign citizens and 20.4% people with a migration background including first and second generation migrants. Therefore, after a long process of difficult discussion it can safely be stated, that nowadays Austria is considered a country of immigration and emigration as well as demonstrating fairly strong flows of transmigration (Statistik Austria 2015: 22). In terms of incoming refugees the situation is strongly dependent on the development of international crises and war situations in addition to the possibilities to enter Austria due to EU legislation allocating country responsibility for asylum cases.
