Abstract
Measuring available income resources of households as comprehensively as possible, including incomes form different sources and potentially multiple persons, is crucial for a valid measurement of poverty risks. Therefore, the explanation of differences in poverty risks over time or between persons depends on multiple logics in the distribution. As discussed in chapter 2, to understand inequalities in the distribution of household incomes, changes in the labour market need to be taken into account as much as the structure of households and the tax and transfer system.
