Zusammenfassung
Diese Schlussfolgerung zieht die Kulturanthropologin Mondzian (2006, S. 62), nachdem sie die Verwendung des Bildes im Christentum nachvollzogen hat. Sie appelliert dafür, das Bild im doppelten Sinne zu erfassen: als das, was auf dem Bildschirm sichtbar sei und dem, was durch das Bild abgeschirmt werde. Nicht das bloße Bildmaterial hat Einfluss auf die Wahrnehmung der Öffentlichkeit von einem Ereignis; die damit transportierten Narrative, verbreitet in Stellungnahmen, kommentiert in der Berichterstattung der Medien und durch politische Eliten und nicht-staatliche Akteure, beeinflussen die Blickrichtung der Öffentlichkeit als Zuschauer und Zielpublikum dieses Materials.
