Zusammenfassung

Das Leben ist voller Probleme. Und fast nie gibt es nur die eine richtige Lösung. Die meisten Probleme sind komplex: Konflikte in der Familie schlichten, die Organisation eines wichtigen Meetings planen, eine geeignete neue Wohnung suchen. Wie soll man das alles lösen? Dazu kommen heute große gesellschaftliche Herausforderungen (Wissenschaftsrat 2015), die je nach Standpunkt Themen umfassen, wie zum Beispiel Klimawandel, Energieversorgung, alternde Gesellschaft, Gesundheitsversorgung, Wasserversorgung und Nahrung für alle.

Der vorliegende Beitrag ist in ähnlicher Form unter dem Titel „Mit Herz und Verstand: Schlüssel zu einer komplexen Welt“ im Forschungsmagazin Ruperto Carola (2013, Heft 3, 37–43) erschienen. Er wurde für diesen Band aktualisiert und ergänzt.
