Abstract
Characteristics of 39 PD patients who were randomized into perturbational treadmill training (n = 19) or conventional treadmill training (n = 20) are presented in Table 1. The average age of participants was 64.8 years in experimental group and 64.2 years in control group. People in both groups showed similar mean UPDRS scores (PTT = 16.7; CTT = 17.7) and the same amount of people (n = 8) had previous treadmill experience (ever walked on a treadmill). There were significantly more females in the perturbational treadmill group (PTT: n = 8; CTT: n = 2), compared to the control group. Frequency distribution of fall rates was different within groups but the number of fallers (PTT n = 12; CTT n = 10) and non-fallers (PTT n = 7; CTT n = 9) is comparable in experimental and control group.
