Zusammenfassung

In the study of individuals’ mobility, meaning cross-border geographical mobility, network approaches are a common source of explanation (Boyd 1989; Bilecen et al. 2017). Network approaches look beyond structuralist approaches that focus on asymmetries in job availability, e. g. in migration systems. Network perspectives also aim beyond actor-centred approaches focusing on rational actors’ individual decisions and/or considering the movement of actors to depend on specific personal attributes of those moving (e. g. skills or human capital) (Herz 2010).
