Dorothe Heathcote, die dramapädagogische Arbeitsweisen für den Unterricht seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts entwickelte, einsetzte und in Großbritannien als Drama in Education etablierte, charakterisiert das Medium Drama über den Effekt, den es hat: „Drama is not stories retold in action. Drama is human beings confronted by situations which change them because of what they must face in dealing with those challenges.” (zit. i. Schewe 1993:92 f.)
