Abstract
Social scientists rarely have the chance to talk to participants of surveys. It is a major asset of this research project that survey participants could be contacted for in-depth follow-up interviews. However, qualitative interviews are also necessary because of the impossibility to illuminate the subject of symbolic membership merely through standardized questionnaires.
