Zusammenfassung
Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ist in Europa eine internationale Ordnung entstanden, die sich durch ein außergewöhnlich hohes Maß an supranationaler Integration auszeichnet. Sie erstreckt sich auf eine große Bandbreite von Politikfeldern und verleiht der Europäischen Union (EU) in einigen von ihnen exklusive Zuständigkeiten. Supranationale Organe – die Europäische Kommission, das Europäische Parlament, der Europäische Gerichtshof und die Europäische Zentralbank – verfügen über eigenständige Entscheidungs- und Vetorechte gegenüber den Regierungen.
