Ein vielversprechendes Verfahren zur Speicherung bzw. anderweitigen Nutzung von Überschuss elektrischer Energie ist das Power-to-Methane-Konzept. Das erzeugte Produkt CH4 kann rückverstromt werden oder in den verschiedenen Sektoren, wo CH4 benötigt wird, verwendet werden.
