The trade of liquid milk and milk powders has increased due to the increasing milk production in dairy farming regions in the world (FAO 2016). Concentration of milk solids by removal of water together with thermal sterilisation of these products offers the opportunity for energy efficient distribution of milk nutrients in liquid form. Thereby, the supply of valuable milk nutrients to climate zones of the world without adequate refrigeration and a climate suitable for dairy farming became possible.
