Zusammenfassung

Galilei wurde in Pisa geboren am 15. oder 16. Februar 1564 nach dem alten, julianischen Kalender (das heißt 25. oder 26. Februar gregorianisch). Er entstammt einer verarmten Patrizierfamilie; sein Vater Vincenzo war Tuchhändler, Lautenspieler und Musiktheoretiker. Er wurde in das Ende der Renaissance hineingeboren, in eine Zeit zwischen Mittelalter und Neuzeit.
