Zusammenfassung
In einer empirischen Studie mit Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen (N = 101) wurde der Zusammenhang von Medienkompetenz mit bereits empirisch bestätigten Resilienzfaktoren aus dem kognitiven, leistungsbezogenen und gesellschaftlichen Bereich untersucht. Dazu wurde der computerbasierte Test „Würzburger Medienkompetenztest“ (WMK) entwickelt, der die Leistung in fünf verschiedenen Fähigkeitsbereichen von Medienkompetenz überprüft. Zusätzlich wurden Intelligenz, Lese- und mathematische Kompetenzen, Schulnoten sowie politisches Interesse und Selbstkonzept, Offenheit und Perspektivenübernahme erfasst. Die Ergebnisse von Regressions- und Pfadanalysen zeigten, dass Medienkompetenz den fast durchweg stärksten Einfluss auf die leistungsbezogenen Fähigkeiten ausübte – noch vor der Intelligenz. Ebenso wirkte sich Medienkompetenz bedeutsam auf das Politikinteresse aus und wies einen Zusammenhang zur Perspektivenübernahme auf. Somit birgt Medienkompetenz für das Jugend- und frühe Erwachsenalter ein großes Potential als Resilienzfaktor, auch über die Individualebene hinaus für die Gesellschaft.
