Abstract
The concept of evolutionary economics offers a suited theoretical framework to study innovation and to understand and analyse the complex dynamics of the role of demand for innovation processes. However, it also makes high demands for the modelling framework used. This chapter describes agent-based modelling (hereafter ABM) and its particular role for the scientific endeavour.
