Abstract
Survivin is part of the IAP family and fulfils a dual role in cells. Cytoplasmic survivin inhibits apoptosis and therefore mediates cell survival upon death stimuli. Nuclear survivin acts as a part of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) where it is involved in the regulation of chromosome segregation during mitosis.
