Zusammenfassung

In Forschung und Praxis erleben Assessmentverfahren derzeit einen Boom, der maßgeblich durch ein veränderteres Qualitätsverständnis, die nutzerorientierte Schaffung von Transparenz und methodische Entwicklungen bedingt ist. Die steigende Anzahl an Instrumenten, die Eingang in Standard- und Leitlinienentwicklungen gefunden haben, erzeugen einen Umsetzungsdruck in der meist ohnehin arbeitsverdichteten Praxis. Wo einstmals erfahrungsbasierte Einschätzungen die Planung von Maßnahmen und Interventionen begründeten, kommen nun konkurrierend, ersetzend oder ergänzend Assessmentverfahren zum Einsatz. Es ist zu diskutieren, ob solche Entwicklungen als Deprofessionalisierung zu bewerten sind. Es werden Fehlentwicklungen und Fallstricke benannt, die deutlich machen, dass die Auswahl, Entwicklung und Nutzung von Assessmentverfahren kritisch zu reflektieren bzw. zu begleiten ist.

    Die schwierige Unterscheidung von Diagnose und Assessment löst Gordon (2008) so, dass Diagnosen aufgrund von aggregierten und strukturieren Assessments entstehen: „Diagnostic categories, or nursing diagnoses, summarize the assessment data into meaningful clusters of information“ (Gordon 2008, S. 120).

    Im Alltagsverständnis wird der Begriff „Assessment“ genutzt, um das Instrument (das Assessment) oder aber die Anwendung des Instruments (ein Assessment durchführen) zu bezeichnen.
