Zusammenfassung
In diesem Beitrag wird die Entwicklung von Routinen und organisationalen Fähigkeiten aus pfadtheoretischer Perspektive untersucht. Ein Hauptaugenmerk wird auf die Entstehungsphase und die den weiteren Verlauf bestimmenden Mechanismen gelegt. Die Analyse anhand typischer pfadabhängigkeitstheoretischer Merkmale zeigt dabei die hohe Relevanz pfadtheoretischer Überlegungen in diesem Themenfeld. Es wird dargelegt, dass die Entwicklung von Routinen und organisationalen Fähigkeiten durch zahlreiche positive Rückkopplungseffekte geprägt ist und dass diese nicht unabhängig voneinander wirken, sondern Wechselwirkungen zwischen diesen bestehen. Dieses Zusammenspiel verschiedener Rückkopplungseffekte liefert einen Erklärungsbeitrag dazu, inwiefern Routinen zu organisationalen Fähigkeiten emergieren können. Ein weiteres Ergebnis ist, dass pfadabhängige Entwicklungen nicht nur innerhalb eines einzelnen Prozesses wirken, sondern verschiedene Prozesse aufgrund paralleler und sequentieller Interdependenzen in Verbindung stehen; letztere sind insbesondere auch für die Entwicklung dynamischer Fähigkeiten von Bedeutung. Zusammenfassend können pfadabhängigkeitstheoretische Überlegungen als Untersuchungsgrundlage dienen, unternehmensweite zu Inflexibilität führende Entwicklungen zu erklären.
