The Basics of Fault Detection

Abstract

As discussed in the introduction, the essential task of FD is to detect the presence of faults in the process. Such processes can be described by different types of system models, among which the linear time invariant (LTI) system is the mostly used one. According to the process dynamics and application scopes, such systems are commonly classified into static and dynamic classes.
