Zusammenfassung
In diesem Beitrag rücken diejenigen drei Begrifflichkeiten in den Mittelpunkt der Aufmerksamkeit, die den kommunikativen Raum zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft gedanklich abzustecken suchen: Öffentliche Wissenschaft, Wissenschaftspopularisierung und externe Wissenschafts-kommunikation. In komparativer Zusammenschau dieser Begriffe zeigen sich deren Besonderheiten, und es wird deutlich, dass unterschiedliche Vorstellungen von Öffentlichkeit, von Wissenschaft und unterschiedliche Auffassungen des kommunikativen Geschehens wie auch unterschiedliche Kommunikationsmodelle in Verwendung sind. Deren differente Kombination führt zu einer andersartigen Ausgestaltung des jeweiligen Begriffs. Daher ist die Etablierung eines terminologischen Tableaus, in dem die drei Begriffe nach Inhalt und Umfang aufgeschlüsselt dargestellt sind, Ziel des vorliegenden Beitrags.
