Zusammenfassung
Die Jahresabschlussprüfung durch externe Wirtschaftsprüfer ist eine gleichermaßen verpflichtende sowie notwendige Dienstleistung mit zentraler Bedeutung für die deutsche Wirtschaft. Ihre Ausführung ist maßgeblich durch ein volatiles, gesetzliches Rahmenwerk und durch die zunehmende Digitalisierung von Geschäftsprozessen beeinflusst. In diesem Zusammenhang wird in der Wissenschaft die Weiterentwicklung von traditionellen Prüfungshandlungen auf Basis historischer Daten zu einer kontinuierlichen Prüfung in quasi-Echtzeit diskutiert. Allerdings ist aus wissenschaftlicher Sicht zu konstatieren, dass nur wenige Forschungsarbeiten die Prozessdimension dieser Dienstleistung beschreiben und die dafür erforderlichen Modelle bislang fehlen. Um diese Forschungslücke zu schließen, werden in diesem Beitrag erstmalig Prozessmodelle unterschiedlicher Prüfungsansätze dargestellt. Dabei werden in dem zur Modellkonstruktion verwendeten methodischen Rahmen sowohl der Ist-Zustand der Praxis als auch der Stand der Forschung berücksichtigt. Die Ergebnisse dieses Beitrags unterstützen sowohl Wissenschaftler als auch Praktiker bei der Reflexion und der Umsetzung der digitalen Transformation der Abschlussprüfung.
