Discussion and Conclusion
The study at hand sheds light on the mobility behavior of highly skilled Chinese in Japan. It thereby contributes a piece to the puzzle surrounding the rise in international labor migration (ILO 2013; UNPD 2013), exploring how various factors influence this particular group of migrants in their locational decisions. Both Japan and China have devised policies aimed at attracting highly skilled and increasing the share of skilled workers in their economies (Komine 2014: 213–215; Nyíri 2005: 156; Tsuda and Cornelius 2004: 449–450; Zhuang 2013: 39).
