Zusammenfassung
Der Animationsfilm wird in weiten Teilen der Film- und Medienwissenschaft immer noch als Genre missverstanden. Das mag daran liegen, dass er im US-amerikanischen Mainstreamkino, dessen Erzeugnisse weiterhin ein wesentlicher Forschungsgegenstand jener Wissenschaften sind, fast ausnahmslos innerhalb eines einzigen Genres in Erscheinung tritt: dem des Familienfilms.
