Die Integration des Energiesektors brachte große Veränderungen für die politische Ökonomie Irans. Einst war der Energiesektor eine Enklave, die jenseits der Erdölexporteinnahmen, die ins Inland flossen, kaum Berührungspunkte mit der übrigen Wirtschaft hatte. Durch die Integration nahmen die Verbindungen zu.
