Abstract
This part reports on the problem identification for the design of boundary objects in communities. It draws from an empirical investigation in an organizational knowledge community and shows the practical relevance for the need to design a DSR artefact. The data shows that this community is characterized by its common interest in collaboration and its geographic distance, the latter of which results in knowledge boundaries that impede knowledge sharing.
