Part I focussed on the relevance for boundary objects in communities. It showed the theoretical foundation of knowledge sharing relevant for (virtual) collaboration. Boundary objects are particularly interesting for knowledge sharing because they interconnect individuals from different knowledge domains, similarly to how the Skype app found its way into everyday collaboration by easily and instantly interconnecting members of a community.
