Zusammenfassung

James George Frazer wurde am 1. Januar 1854 in Glasgow geboren; er studierte Alte Philologie (Classics) zuerst in Glasgow und dann am Trinity College in Cambridge. Bis auf eine kurze Unterbrechung zwischen 1907 und 1908 an der Universität Liverpool lehrte er in Cambridge, wo er auch am 7. Mai 1941 verstarb. 1914 wurde er für seine wissenschaftlichen Verdienste zum Ritter geschlagen.
