Abstract
This “two-way street” of communication is considered an essential element of a functioning democracy and refers to the provision of information on European Union (EU) governance to EU citizens, and to the inclusion of the “people’s views” (Commission of the European Communities 2006a p.4) in the decision-making process at the EU level. As the Commission itself notes, the latter aspect has received less attention than the former. This study focuses on an issue that is directly linked to the European Commission’s concern, the visibility of EU citizens in the European public sphere.
