Zusammenfassung
Die Organisationstheorie und die Betriebswirtschaftslehre ganz allgemein waren es jahrzehntelang gewöhnt, ihre Aussagen aus der Perspektive der einzeln operierenden Organisation zu formulieren. Entwicklungen der Praxis haben hier eine Umorientierung bewirkt; man denke nur an die große Bedeutung, die heute Allianzen, Systempartnerschaften, Netzwerke oder regionale Wirtschaftscluster haben. Dies hat in der Folge zu einem verstärkten Interesse an interorganisationalen Beziehungen und ihrer theoretischen Erklärung geführt. In dieser Perspektive ist das fokale Aktionszentrum nicht mehr in der Organisation, sondern auf einer höheren Aggregationsebene zu finden, etwa in sozialen Netzwerken oder Kartellen. Die einzelne Organisation interessiert nicht mehr als Einheit, sondern als Teil oder als Mitglied strategischer Kollektive.
