Zusammenfassung
The so called carrier state is known as a fundamental epidemiological concept: It relates to infected, yet healthy individuals that carry pathogens and who are suited to dispense them to their environments. It facilitates an explanation for the endemic character of infectious diseases in areas where no acute cases can be detected. Mass screening of local population is suitable to trace such carriers.
