Abstract
The article identifies the relation between alienation and lifelogging-practices. It details the diagnosis of reification within the theories of Lukács, Adorno, Habermas and Honneth to show that an interpretation of lifelogging-practices as self-alienation respectively self-reification is abbreviated. In critical reference to these theories, the article depicts the generalization of reification from wage labor to leisure time activities. Contrary to the concept of colonization of the lifeworld, the form of society and its separation into spheres in capitalist modernity itself is the starting point of the articles claim. On this basis, lifelogging-practices can be understood as attempt to overcome heteronomous reification and to get autonomy about one’s own life back. This attempt itself process in alienated form.
