Zusammenfassung
Das Forschungsfeld der Geschäftsmodelle ist aufgrund seiner verbreiteten Verwendung in der Unternehmenspraxis (vgl. Chesbrough und Rosenbloom 2002, S. 532) in jüngster Zeit auch in der Literatur vermehrt diskutiert worden (vgl. Seddon et al. 2004, S 12; Bieger und Reinhold 2011, S. 16; Wirtz 2013, S. 3). Wenngleich die Forschungsbeiträge kein einheitliches Verständnis von Geschäftsmodellen zeigen (vgl. Voelpel et al. 2004, S. 260; Zott und Amit 2013, S. 406), besteht dennoch Einigkeit darüber, dass insbesondere die innovative Ausgestaltung von Geschäftsmodellen einen wesentlichen Erfolgsfaktor für Unternehmen darstellt (vgl. Hamel 2000, S. 15; Voelpel et al. 2004, S. 260; Chesbrough 2007, S. 12; Zott und Amit 2007, S. 195; Zott et al. 2011, S. 1033).
