Abstract
On the occasion of the 2010 SUPI conference, union strategies in view of the ever increasing share of precarious jobs in overall employment was a topic of general discussion. Starting point were the indispensable elements of the social dimension of European integration, namely
-
the limitation or containment of economic and other forms of inequality,
-
a fair distribution of chances by equal access to continuous education, training, and skill development throughout life,
-
a robust welfare system that provides effective social-protection to all citizens, but especially to the most vulnerable.
