Zusammenfassung
Das Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, Perspektiven für ein zukünftiges Forschungsprogramm für die Wissenschaftskommunikation zu erschließen. Dies geschieht einerseits vor dem Hintergrund von Veränderungen der Medienlandschaft mit ihren Begleiterscheinungen für Medien, Journalismus und Öffentlichkeit. Andererseits stellen aber auch Innovationen in der Wissenschaft selbst ihr Verhältnis zur Öffentlichkeit und zur Gesellschaft vor neue Herausforderungen. Nicht überraschend aber dennoch auffällig sind Probleme in zwei unterschiedlichen Dimensionen, denen sich die Wissenschaftskommunikation in vielfältiger Weise zu stellen hat: eine Schnittstellen- und eine Vermittlungsproblematik. Einerseits liegt dies in der Kommunikation der Wissenschaft mit anderen gesellschaftlichen Teilbereichen wie der Politik oder der Wirtschaft und den dahinterliegenden Fragen des wissenschaftlichen Selbstverständnisses in der Kommunikation mit diesen Systemen. Andererseits ist es aber die immer wieder neu auszutarierende Kommunikation mit den Publika von Wissenschaftsthemen selbst, die durch die Änderungen in der Medienlandschaft , das Zurückdrängen der traditionellen Massenmedien und die Etablierung neuer Akteure beeinflusst wird. Schlussendlich gilt es, die Frage nach der kommunikativen Funktion der Wissenschaft für die Gesellschaft selbst zu bearbeiten. All dies können aber nur Teilaspekte einer zukünftigen Agenda für die Wissenschaftskommunikation sein.
