Zusammenfassung

Die Alterung ‚westlicher‘ Gesellschaften und damit die absolut und relativ steigende Zahl Älterer und Hochbetagter, so viel scheint klar, führt zu einer steigenden Belastung Jüngerer; und zwar nicht allein im Hinblick auf die vieldiskutierten umlagefinanzierten Rentensysteme sondern auch im Hinblick auf steigenden Pflegebedarf. Dem stehen allerdings wohl auch mehr finanzielle und gesundheitliche Ressourcen Älterer aufgrund einer – zumindest heute noch oft – relativ großzügigen Rente und einer steigenden Zahl gesunder oder zumindest behinderungsfreier Lebensjahre entgegen.
