Abstract

In the present study two main purposes are pursued. The first major aim is to find a learning method (auditory or visual self- or system-paced learning) that is best suited to retain learned information in short- as well as in long-term memory. For this purpose, the influence of intrinsic motivation to take the test questions and the subjective experiences during learning on learning success are additionally examined. Moreover, an additional slow system-paced condition is included, providing the same learning time as self-paced learners needed, in order to investigate the influence of possible stress while learning in a systempaced environment.
