Zusammenfassung
Wie verändert eine radikal neue Technologie existierende Geschäftsmodelle eines Unternehmens bzw. schafft neue Geschäftsmodelle nicht nur für ein Unternehmen, sondern für eine ganze Branche? Am Beispiel der In-Memory Technologie und hier speziell SAP HANA wird anhand von vier Fallstudien zunächst eine Bestandsaufnahme des aktuellen Einsatzes der In-Memory Technologie mit ihren Auswirkungen auf existierende Geschäftsmodelle im Kontext von Big Data beschrieben. Die Autoren können zeigen, dass die meisten Unternehmen dem Einsatz einer solch radikal neuen Technologie zunächst mit Geschäftsprozessänderungen begegnen. Nur wenige Unternehmen nutzen die Technologie als Auslöser für ein komplettes Re-Design ihres Geschäftsmodells, da die potentiellen Chancen und Risiken nur schwer abschätzbar sind. Gleichzeitig wünschen sich die Unternehmen insbesondere in Hinblick auf die Big Data getriebenen Trends Konnektivität (Connectivity), Personalisierung (Personalization), Management der Komplexität (Management of Complexity) und des Entstehens komplett neuer Märkte einfache aber zugleich machtvolle Technologien, um diesen Trends mit neuen Geschäftsmodellen zu begegnen. Theoriegeleitet und fallstudiengestützt entwickeln die Autoren ein Modell für technologiegetriebene Geschäftsmodellinnovation.
