Abstract
After pinpointing the research goal, this chapter starts with explicating the methodological considerations that underlie this study. This concerns its qualitative character first: It seeks to give insights about a question of how, and with that about qualities of empirically gained phenomena. Second, these phenomena are observed within social interactions, suggesting an interpretative approach. Third, both aspects just mentioned need to be considered from an interactionist theory as well as from the perspective of gesture studies.
