Optimizations on the Physical Layer: A Forecast-Model-Aware Time Series Storage

The logical optimizations introduced in Chapter 5 concentrate on optimizing the process of calculating forecasts. They are independent of the data organization and agnostic to the chosen forecast models. However, optimizations on the logical layer do not influence the way data is stored and handled within main memory and the way modern hardware can be utilized to improve the forecasting calculations. Thus, to further improve the forecasting efficiency and performance, the forecast process should also be optimized on the physical layer.
