Abstract

Cities whose inhabitants pursue sustainable visions and goals, cities that overhaul their infrastructures in order to remain functional and want to become resilient by initiating a cultural change will also place new demands on their products. Products characterize urban life. This is where they are developed, produced, sold, used, consumed, disposed of, and recycled. However, limited resources, the need for entrepreneurship and jobs, a lack of space, piles of garbage, water, air, and soil pollution due to production, transport, and consumption, and noise emissions are at least currently still a part of urban reality. What implications does this have for the development and design of products for cities?
