Kurzfassung
Wasserstoff wird bisher fast ausschließlich als Ausgangsstoff für industrielle Produktionsprozesse verwendet und vor Ort in großtechnischen Prozessen größtenteils aus fossilen Energieträgern hergestellt. Zunehmend nimmt Wasserstoff auch die Rolle eines mehrdimensionalen Energievektors ein, zum Beispiel als Energiespeicher oder als Treibstoff im Mobilitätssektor. Bei nachhaltigen, regenerativen Energiesystemen muss daher versucht werden, alternative Wasserstoffquellen zu erschließen, im Speziellen die Herstellung und Speicherung von „grünem“ Wasserstoff durch Elektrolyse von Wasser mittels erneuerbaren Energien. Zudem sind Potentiale durch Wiederverwertung von Wasserstoff als Prozessmedium zu nutzen, zum Beispiel durch die energetische Verwertung von Prozessabfällen oder -nebenprodukten. Die PEM-Brennstoffzellentechnologie bietet aufgrund ihres hohen Wirkungsgrades und ihrer Skalierbarkeit ein hohes Potential für die Nutzung von Wasserstoff vor allem für dezentrale Energiesysteme. Je nach Wasserstoffquelle können unterschiedliche Kontaminationen und Fremdgasanteile im Wasserstoff vorhanden sein. In dieser Arbeit wird gezeigt, dass unkritische Fremdgasanteile prinzipiell in Brennstoffzellensystemen verwertet werden können. Die Wirkungsgradeinbußen sind deutlich, wenn anstatt der Anodengasrezirkulation auf Flow-Through-Betrieb umgestellt werden muss. Die obere Grenze für den Rezirkulationsbetrieb liegt bei etwa 2 % Fremdgasanteil im einströmenden Werkstoff.
